Responsibilities of Schools/DTS

The organization level is responsible for the overall management of the Defense Travel System (DTS) and Schools. They fulfill various roles such as Systems Administrator, Resource Manager, or Administrator. Their responsibilities include loading, updating, and maintaining all organization elements. Additionally, they serve as the local help desk for users, travelers, and routing officials. They also process temporary duty packets for Soldiers attending Noncommissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) programs like the Advanced Leader Course (ALC), Senior Leader Course (SLC), and other schools.


Role of Organizational Defense Travel Administrator

As the Organizational Defense Travel Administrator for Stryker Squadron, this individual provides guidance regarding the Defense Travel System (DTS). They assist in developing the unit’s DTS Business Process and create, maintain, and utilize individual profiles in DTS. They are responsible for resolving systemic issues related to setting up organizations, groups, routing lists, and user files. Furthermore, they authenticate TDY Orders, prepare and maintain DTS reports, and coordinate flights, hotels, and rental vehicles for Soldiers during unit exercises, pre-deployment site surveys, and other TDY assignments, often working with agencies like SATO.


Responsibilities of Organizational Defense Travel Administrator (ODTA)

In the role of Brigade S3 Senior Organizational Defense Travel Administrator (ODTA) for the 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade (BfSB), the individual oversees the Defense Travel System (DTS). They manage a team consisting of over 1400 personnel and are responsible for coordinating flights, hotels, and rental vehicles for Soldiers through civilian agencies like SATO during major unit exercises, pre-deployment site surveys, and other temporary duty assignments. Additionally, they update and maintain traveler profile information, organizational information, appointment orders for accountable officers, and oversee the approvals of travel orders and reimbursements.


Role of Schools and Defense Travel System (DTS) NCO

Working as the S3 schools and Defense Travel System (DTS) NCO for the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion (HHBN), this individual is a wheeled vehicle mechanic. Their primary responsibilities include processing temporary duty packets for Soldiers attending noncommissioned officer education systems (NCOES) such as the Warrior Leaders Course (WLC), Advanced Leaders Course (ALC), Senior Leaders Course (SLC), and other schools. They provide assistance to Soldiers in filing their travel voucher by ensuring that all actual expenses are listed accurately. Additionally, they coordinate flights for Soldiers through civilian agencies such as Carlson Wagonlit or SATO.
