The responsibility for managing the Defense Travel System (DTS) and Schools at the organizational level lies with individuals who serve as Systems Administrators, Resource Managers, or Administrators. Their tasks include loading, updating, and maintaining all elements related to the organization. They also act as a local help desk for users, travelers, and routing officials. In addition, they process temporary duty packets for Soldiers who are attending Noncommissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) programs like the Advanced Leader Course (ALC), Senior Leader Course (SLC), and other schools.

Organizational Defense Travel Administrator for Stryker Squadron

The role of the Organizational Defense Travel Administrator for the Stryker Squadron involves providing authoritative guidance on the Defense Travel System (DTS). They assist in developing the organization’s DTS Business Process and create, maintain, and utilize individual profiles in DTS. Resolving systematic issues related to the establishment of organizations, groups, routing lists, and user files is also part of their responsibilities. They authenticate TDY Orders for the organization, prepare and maintain DTS reports, and coordinate, schedule, and verify flights, hotels, and rental vehicles for Soldiers through civilian agencies such as SATO for major unit exercises, pre-deployment site surveys, and other TDY assignments.

Organizational Defense Travel Administrator (ODTA)

As a Counterintelligence Agent, the Brigade S3 Senior Organizational Defense Travel Administrator (ODTA) oversees the Defense Travel System (DTS) for the 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade (BfSB), which consists of over 1400 personnel. They handle the coordination, scheduling, and verification of flights, hotels, and rental vehicles for Soldiers through civilian agencies like SATO for major unit exercises, pre-deployment site surveys, and other temporary duty assignments. Their responsibilities also include updating and maintaining traveler profile information, organizational information, appointment orders for accountable officers, and overseeing the approvals of travel orders and reimbursements.

Schools and Defense Travel System (DTS) NCO

In the role of the S3 schools and Defense Travel System (DTS) NCO for the Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion (HHBN), the individual works as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. They process temporary duty packets for Soldiers who are scheduled to attend noncommissioned officer education systems (NCOES) such as the Warrior Leaders Course (WLC), Advanced Leaders Course (ALC), Senior Leaders Course (SLC), and other schools. Additionally, they assist Soldiers in filing their travel vouchers by ensuring that all actual expenses are listed. They also coordinate, schedule, and verify flights for Soldiers through civilian agencies such as Carlson Wagonlit or SATO.
