Command Post Specialist

The Command Post Specialist is responsible for managing and performing activities within command posts, operations centers, rescue coordination centers, and command centers. Their role involves providing command, control, communications, and information support. They receive and relay command and control instructions, record and process data, and submit manual and automated data products. They establish procedures for operational reports and ensure compliance with CP policies and procedures, including readiness reports and the Status of Resources and Training System (SORTS) report. They may also report international treaty compliance information.

Command Post Radio Operator

As the senior radio telephone operator of an infantry company, the Command Post Radio Operator maintains a critical link between the company and battalion leadership. They receive, process, disseminate, and track critical information in a timely and accurate manner. Their responsibilities include recording all actions of the company, updating charts and overlays, taking spot reports and messages, and relaying messages. They are responsible for taking immediate action upon receipt of Commander’s Critical Information Requirements (CCIR) or Essential Elements of Friendly Information (EEFI).

Emergency Operations Center Radio Operator

The Emergency Operations Center Radio Operator performs duties as a radio operator within an emergency operations center. They test, maintain, and keep all radios operational at all times, and interface with maintenance personnel as needed. They maintain situational awareness and ensure constant, secure communication with assigned units and distant ends. They monitor all radio traffic, enforce radio discipline, and record all incoming and outgoing transmissions. They promptly communicate changes and updates to supported units, keeping them apprised of current events, changes, and impending changes. They also integrate with the Tactical Operations Center (TOC) and perform other assigned duties.

Radio Telephone Operator (RTO)

The Radio Telephone Operator serves as the communication link between deployed Combat Sustainment Support Battalion companies and battalion leadership. They receive, process, disseminate, and track critical information in a timely and accurate manner. Their duties include recording all actions of the staff using a DA Form 1594 (Staff Journal), updating charts and overlays, taking spot reports and messages, and relaying messages. They are responsible for taking immediate action upon receipt of Commander’s Critical Information Requirements (CCIR) or Essential Elements of Friendly Information (EEFI).
