CBRN AIT Drill Sergeant
Assumes the role of a Drill Sergeant for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Advanced Individual Training (AIT) in one of only two CBRN AIT companies within the Army; holds the responsibility for the discipline, morale, health, and well-being of 120 Soldiers during a ten-week training cycle; serves as an exemplar and leads Soldiers through the process of becoming fully-fledged members of the military; imparts instruction and training on Army Values, Physical Readiness Training, and Drill and Ceremony; reinforces comprehensive training on 74D tasks at the 10-level; conducts meticulous inspections of facilities and Soldiers to ensure adherence to regulations; provides performance counseling and mentorship.
74D2O Operations Readiness NCO
Occupies the role of the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Operations Readiness NCO in a M777A2 155MM Firing Battery assigned to the Regimental Field Artillery Squadron (RFAS) within the 3rd Cavalry Regiment, consisting of 85 personnel; assumes accountability for all radiation and decontamination supplies and equipment at the unit level, including NBC masks and services; devises training plans at the unit level for the Commander, encompassing individual tasks such as preventive maintenance, proper equipment wear, and decontamination training; bears responsibility for the professional development, training, counseling, morale, health, and well-being of four Soldiers; ensures accountability and maintenance of all squad equipment, with a value exceeding $500,000, including one Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) and one trailer.
74D Unit NBC 74D2O
Serves as the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) NCO within a Company encompassing 100 personnel, including two additional unit detachments with an extra 100 Soldiers; assumes responsibility for all radiation and decontamination supplies and equipment at the unit level, including NBC masks and services; formulates unit-level training plans for the commander, covering individual tasks such as preventive maintenance, proper equipment wear, and decontamination training.

Holds the position of a CBRN Staff NCO within a specialized, rapidly deployable Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) Response Team (CRT) with a global, no-notice mission to identify, sample, render safe, mitigate, package, and conduct Technical Escort of Chemical and Biological (C/B) material; provides support in crisis and consequence management of C/B incidents for host nation, local, state, federal agencies, United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), and Theater Commanders; responsible for the health and well-being of two Soldiers.
NBC Operations NCO
Serves as the senior NCO overseeing all NBC operations within an Area Support Group comprising four geographically remote Base Support Battalions; tasked with planning and implementing NBC operational contingencies for over 2,000 soldiers; accountable for the fielding of new NBC equipment, monitoring NBC training, and conducting NBC command inspections; primary assistant for the logistical operations of the group on a day-to-day basis, including reporting procedures supporting four communities housing over 40,000 civilian and military personnel.
74D3O/Brigade CBRN NCOIC
Assumes the role of Brigade NCOIC for all Chemical Biological Radioactive Nuclear (CBRN) operations in support of the 332nd Medical Brigade; responsible for planning and executing CBRN operational contingencies for the Brigade Brigade Headquarters company consisting of 163 soldiers; provides expert advice on all CBRN operations and hazards for a Brigade comprising over 1,800 soldiers; ensures the maintenance and accountability of CBRN equipment worth over one million dollars.
Team Leader of a four Soldier Biological Detection team
Serves as the Team Leader of a specialized Biological Detection team comprised of four Soldiers; trains and mentors the detection team in the performance of their duties; maintains the accountability and operational readiness of the team’s detection suites, support vehicle, and other equipment and supplies; sustains proficiency in operating Biological Integrated Systems; additionally responsible for tracking Soldier drivers’ training, mileage, and detachment dispatches, as well as the maintenance of seven BIDS vehicles and seven support trucks, amounting to equipment worth over 20.5 million dollars; reports on Biological Detection System (BIDS) status, fuel consumption, and training schedules.

Serves as the Operations NCO for an Initial Military Training company that trains over 720 Soldiers annually; prepares training schedules; maintains and reports the daily status of up to 240 trainees; manages all daily administrative matters of the company, including legal affairs; coordinates taskings from higher headquarters; handles the in-processing and out-processing of up to 240 Soldiers for each ten-week cycle; maintains the Resident Individual Training Management System (RITMS) and Digital Training Management System (DTMS); schedules and oversees make-up training to ensure trainees meet graduation requirements.

Serves as the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) NCO within a Battalion consisting of over 1,100 Soldiers and civilian employees; acts as the military education advisor to the Command Sergeant Major; coordinates Professional Military Education (PME) for a Headquarters Command comprising 13 Command Directorates, a Battalion Headquarters, two companies, and centers; facilitates coordination and synchronization of logistical and administrative support among subordinate units, garrison activities, and host nation agencies to expedite training readiness; assumes the role of Platoon Sergeant, ensuring the readiness, wellness, and discipline of 52 Soldiers.

Previously served as the CBRN NCO for a forward-stationed Patriot Air Defense Artillery fire battery with a contingency mission in the EUCOM area of operations; responsible for planning and executing CBRN operational contingencies for 72 Soldiers; oversaw the development and supervision of CBRN equipment fielding and training; held accountability for the professional development, training, counseling, morale, health, and well-being of three Soldiers and their families; maintained the serviceability, accountability, and readiness of all assigned support equipment valued at over $1,000,000.
74D40 CBRN STAFF NCO
Served as the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) NCO in a globally deployable Maneuver Fires and Effects Military Police Battalion, supporting FORSCOM contingency operations; responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating individual and collective CBRN training, providing technical advice on all CBRN operations and hazards to the battalion commander; fulfilled duties as the battalion schools NCO, overseeing the Battalion S3 training section, which included CBRN, land & ammo, schools, electronic warfare sections, and the battalion short-range calendars; responsible for the health and well-being of three NCOs.

Served as the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear NCO for a Cavalry Troop in support of an Armored Reconnaissance Squadron for an Armored Brigade Combat Team located 25 kilometers from the Demilitarized Zone in the Republic of Korea. Was responsible for planning and implementing CBRN operational contingencies for 108 soldiers. Managed the fielding of new CBRN equipment, monitored CBRN training, and conducted CBRN command inspections. Ensured the accountability, professional development, training, counseling, morale, health, and welfare of one soldier. Also responsible for the serviceability, accountability, and readiness of all assigned support equipment valued at over $625,000.
Squad Leader
Served as a Squad Leader for the 59th Chemical Company. Responsible for the accountability, training, supervision, health, and welfare of seven soldiers and their family members. Managed the maintenance and accountability of two Nuclear Biological Chemical Reconnaissance System vehicles and ancillary equipment valued at over $6 million. Prepared the squad for all peacetime and combat missions through personal and professional development of soldiers.

Served as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) NCO responsible for the training, welfare, readiness, and professional development of five soldiers in the concept of chemical detection, sampling, identification, and marking of NBC contamination. Supervised the maintenance and accountability of two M93A1P1 Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Reconnaissance vehicles and ancillary equipment valued at $9 million. Assisted the Squad Leader in the planning, preparation, and conduct of peacetime and combat missions by providing technical guidance and advice on all CBRN operations and hazards to the command team.
Decon Platoon SGT 74D4O
Supervised a twenty-one-person Warrior Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) decontamination platoon. Planned and conducted CBRN decontamination and Mass Casualty Decontamination (MCD) missions. Determined the training needs and requirements of the platoon. Ensured the squad was fully trained for every mission. Conducted Pre-Combat Checks (PCCs) and Pre-Combat Inspections (PCIs) prior to every mission. Supervised Squad Leaders on the Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) of squad MTOE equipment, including various CBRN detection equipment and vehicles.
Recon Platoon SGT 74D4O
Assisted in the supervision of a forty-man Warrior Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) reconnaissance platoon. Assisted in the planning and conducting of CBRN reconnaissance and Search and Recovery (S&R) missions. Assisted in determining the training needs and requirements of the platoon. Supervised the maintenance of assigned MTOE equipment, including various CBRN detection equipment and four Recon vehicles.
74D2P CBRN NCO
Served as the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear NCO for an Airborne Field Artillery Battalion in the 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division with the mission of immediate, no-notice worldwide deployment. Acted as the primary advisor to the Battalion Commander in matters pertaining to nuclear, biological, and chemical warfare, including training, maintaining, and protecting decontamination procedures for personnel and equipment. Responsible for over $200,000 worth of equipment.
CBRN NCO
Served as the CBRN NCO for Alpha Company, 188th Brigade Support Battalion. Responsible for planning and implementing CBRN operational contingencies for 108 soldiers. Oversaw the fielding of new CBRN equipment, monitored CBRN training, and conducted CBRN command inspections. Ensured the accountability, professional development, training, counseling, morale, health, and welfare of one soldier. Also responsible for the serviceability, accountability, and readiness of all assigned support equipment valued in excess of $150,000.
74D20 HRP Platoon Squad Leader
Served as the Squad Leader of a Hazardous Response Platoon assigned to a tactical chemical battalion. Responsible for leading, developing, training, and ensuring the health and welfare of five enlisted soldiers in support of the Global War on Terrorism and Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction (C-WMD). Accountable for the maintenance and accountability of all squad equipment worth over $295,000, including three Light-Medium Tactical Vehicles (LMTV), two trailers, two M-26 Lightweight Decontamination Apparatuses, and two 125 Gallon Per Minute Pumps (GPM).
74D2O CBRN NCO
Served as a CBRN NCO for a worldwide-deployable, 110-soldier Combat Engineer Sapper Company attached to the 5th Engineer Brigade in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Supervised the company’s CBRN training and maintenance programs, trained company CBRN Teams, and conducted CBRN training and command inspections. Assisted in the planning and execution of all the company’s NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) training and provided advice to the company commander on tactical NBC situations. Accountable for over $625,000 worth of equipment. Also served as the Night Tactical Operations Center (TOC) NCOIC for all field exercises and the OIF deployment.
Brigade CBRNE and Force Protection NCOIC
Served as the Brigade CBRNE and Force Protection NCOIC for the 45th Sustainment Brigade with a worldwide deployment posture. Responsible for advising the commander and subordinate units on all aspects of CBRNE warfare, including the employment of CBRNE assets and tactics, techniques, and procedures for training, equipment readiness, and logistics. Played a critical role in ensuring the brigade’s readiness and preparedness for CBRNE threats and emergencies.
Brigade CBRN S-3 NCOIC
Serves as the Brigade CBRN S-3 NCOIC of a Heavy Brigade Combat Team. Responsible for establishing and supervising Brigade CBRN training, tracking and plotting all CBRN information during combat operations, and serving as the Tactical Operations Center (TOC) Operations NCOIC. Provides advice and estimates on the brigade’s CBRN defensive posture, assists units with CBRN maintenance, and ensures accountability for seven CBRN sections. Monitors CBRN readiness for subordinate units through command inspections and training evaluations. Supervises five NCOs and ensures quality control within the Brigade Schools, Defense Travel Services (DTS), and daily S3 operations and logistics.
Chemical Operations NCO MOS 74D2O
Served as a Chemical, Biological, Radiation, and Nuclear (CBRN) NCO in support of a 44-soldier Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Company directly supporting Headquarters, United States Army Garrison, 3rd Infantry Division & Fort Stewart. Provided training, advice, and supervision regarding proper use and procedures for all CBRN operations at the company level. Accountable for over $3,150,000 worth of CBRN equipment and administrative assets. Responsible for the supervision, combat training, discipline, safety, health, and welfare of four soldiers.
74D2O CBRN NCO
CBRN NCO for a worldwide-deployable, 163-man, Stryker-equipped Infantry Battalion. Supervised the company’s CBRN training and maintenance programs, trained company CBRN Teams, conducted CBRN training and command inspections. Assisted in the planning and execution of all the company’s Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical (NBC) training and provided advice to the company commander on tactical NBC situations.
74D30 CBRN Specialist
Led and conducted CBRN reconnaissance and surveillance, decontamination operations, obscuration operations, and CBRN sensitive site exploitation. Operated and performed operator maintenance on assigned CBRN defense and individual CBRN protective equipment. Planned, conducted, and evaluated CBRN training and provided technical advice on all CBRN operations and hazards for the company.
74D General
Member of a highly specialized team with a worldwide, no-notice mission to identify, sample, render safe, mitigate, package, and conduct technical escort of chemical and biological (C/B) materials. Supported crisis and consequence management of C/B incidents for host nations, local, state, and federal agencies, and theater combatant commanders. Responsible for the training, welfare, and professional development of two soldiers and the maintenance and accountability of $600,000 worth of team equipment.
Squad Leader for BIDS Company
Serves as the Squad Leader for the Biological Integrated Detection System (BIDS) Company. Responsible for the supervision, combat training, morale, discipline, safety, health, and welfare of seven soldiers. Accountable for the utilization of two M1097A2 trucks, two M1113 trucks, one 10 kW generator, one trailer, and equipment valued over 3 million dollars.
Battalion NBC Supervisor
Biological, and Chemical (NBC) training within the organization. Ensures operational readiness, improved inspection results, and directly responsible for over $75,000 worth of equipment. Serves as the primary advisor to supervising personnel, monitors and evaluates NBC teams, and develops and implements unit Standard Operating Procedures. Provides pre-deployment and deployment NBC equipment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Leads and manages NBC teams through comprehensive and intensive training programs, providing guidance to newly assigned personnel. Provides security for personnel and convoy protection and serves as a HAZMAT certifier for the Central Command Area of Operation.
The 74D1O/2O CBRN NCO holds a range of responsibilities related to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) operations. These duties include:
- Providing technical advice and assistance to the commander regarding CBRN operations.
- Monitoring CBRN defense training, operations, and equipment maintenance.
- Conducting quarterly unit assessments of CBRN operations.
- Training primary and alternate operators for all CBRN defense equipment and a decontamination team.
- Establishing a comprehensive training program for operators and teams in detection and decontamination operations, as well as the operation and maintenance of CBRN defense equipment.
- Ensuring the availability and serviceability of required CBRN material and publications.
- Training all assigned personnel on the proper use and maintenance of CBRN equipment.
- Maintaining an inventory of designated chemical defense items above authorized levels, including protective masks, overgarments, footwear covers/over-boots, and chemical protective gloves.
- Stocking excess repair parts for CBRN defense equipment for contingencies and training.
- Maintaining accurate records of shelf-life items, prioritizing their use based on expiration dates, and requisitioning replacement items in advance.
- Establishing a system to monitor lot numbers, dates of manufacture, and expiration dates of shelf-life items.
- Providing priority requisitioning of CBRN defense equipment necessary for individual survival.
- Maintaining accountability and ensuring proper use, storage, and maintenance of CBRN defense equipment in accordance with technical manuals, regulations, and directives.
- Conducting periodic inspections of operator maintenance to ensure compliance with technical publications.
- Performing organizational maintenance as required by technical publications.
- Maintaining functional files, publications, and maintenance documents in accordance with established regulations.
- Ensuring equipment calibration and certification as required by technical publications.
