Interprets spectacle prescriptions, places orders for eyeglasses and protective mask inserts from the optical fabrication laboratory. Conducts minor repairs and adjustments to eyeglasses, while educating patients on the proper insertion, removal, and maintenance of contact lenses. Conducts tonometry tests to determine intraocular pressure, evaluates visual fields, and identifies areas of diminished vision. Assists optometrists and ophthalmologists in addressing patients’ medical concerns, including eye injuries, infections, and diseases. Administers prescribed medications in preparation for eye examinations and performs necessary removal of dressings while ensuring the sterilization of surgical instruments.
