Cyber Operations Specialist Duty Descriptions

17th-century Cyber Defense Analyst

Engages in Network Terrain Audits, conducts Penetration Testing when necessary; identifies and responds to abnormal threat activity and Cyberspace events; carries out Incident Response activities and gathers Fundamental digital forensic data; interprets and comprehends the rules of engagement for Cyberspace operations while integrating intelligence data into Cyberspace operations.

Cyber Protection Team (CPT) Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC)

Serves as the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) of the Cyber Protection Team (CPT); ensures CPT readiness to counter threats to the Department of Defense Information Networks (DoDIN) through administration, planning, skill certifications, and supervision; advises leadership on overall mission readiness, pre-deployment cyber qualification training, individual and collective training, and deployment support of missions in CONUS and in the theater of operation of the 335th Signal Command; coordinates with US Cyber Command, ARCYBER, ARCOG, and federal agencies including NSA; responsible for the professional development, combat readiness, and well-being of 39 Soldiers.

Cyber Protection Team (CPT) Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC)

Serves as the team NCOIC for XXX CPT; supports 39 members in all Soldier readiness requirements in severely constrained or decentralized mission environments; provides leadership with solutions to meet mission and training requirements; supports Total Army Forces Objectives to identify specific threat vulnerabilities, coordinate capabilities, and engage in deliberate planning to defend the nation against foreign cyber threats; synchronizes and coordinates with US Cyber Command, ARCYBER, National Guard Bureau (NGB), and federal agencies.

Cyber Operations Specialist

Serves as a Cyber Operations Specialist; troubleshoots and resolves anomalies in network hardware and software; administers Remedy/SCCM/HBSS servers; coordinates and reconciles application/configuration/performance management with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA); tracks and implements Technical Control Network Orders (TCNOs) and Major Technical Orders (MTOs); enables and provides second-tier communication support for 5,000 network users; maintains the primary installation data center; supports 11 tenant units and two detachments.

Serves as a Cyber Operations Noncommissioned Officer (NCO); designs, configures, installs, and manages data services at the operating system and server application level; ensures the installation of security fixes, operating system patches, and antivirus software on workstations and servers; reviews, endorses, and maintains documentation packages for information security accreditation and/or certification; manages Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) programs and requirements as stipulated by Intelligence Community Directives; supervises three NCOs and six Soldiers.
