Battery Master Gunner
Assumes the vital position of Battery Master Gunner for the sole Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) Artillery Battery responsible for defending the Korean peninsula. The Battery Master Gunner plays a pivotal role in the creation of test materials, documentation, certifications, qualifications, training, and evaluation of 18 Avenger crews. They hold the responsibility for the health, morale, welfare, discipline, safety, training, and professional growth of 36 Soldiers and four Korean Augmentees. Additionally, they are accountable for the readiness, logistics, maintenance, and proper accountability of all Master Gunner related equipment, which is valued at over $1,000,000.
Avenger Squad Leader
Serves as an Avenger Squad Leader within the Army’s exclusive Short Range Air Defense (SHORAD) Artillery Battery tasked with defending the Korean peninsula, specifically assigned to Echo Battery 6th Battalion. The Avenger Squad Leader actively participates in Operation Task Force Defender, providing Security Force Protection and delivering short-range air defense coverage against threats and unmanned aerial surveillance. They play a crucial role in training and evaluating crews on Air and Missile defense certifications. Additionally, they assume responsibility for the health, morale, welfare, discipline, safety, training, and professional growth of five Soldiers. Furthermore, they are accountable for the maintenance and proper accountability of three Avenger Weapon Systems, valued at over $5,000,000.
Air Defense Crew Member
Serves as a Platoon Sergeant within a Counter-Rocket, Artillery, and Mortar (C-RAM) Platoon, specifically assigned to Bravo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade. The Platoon Sergeant bears the responsibility for the health, welfare, discipline, safety, training, and professional growth of eight Noncommissioned Officers (NCOs) and 20 Soldiers. They ensure the proper accountability and maintenance of two Land-Based Phalanx Weapon Systems (LPWS), an Engagement Operations Center, two Lightweight Counter Mortar Radars (LCMR), as well as other early warning systems and equipment, collectively valued at over $30,000,000.
