Power Distribution Specialist
As a Power Distribution Specialist assigned to the 27th Engineer Battalion in support of XVIII Corps, I play a vital role in assisting civilian authorities during natural disasters and power outages by restoring power. My responsibilities include installing generators to restore power to critical facilities, maintaining Critical Power Panels, SSUPS generators, and switch gear cabinets. Additionally, I am involved in surveying and installing new power lines and transformers to provide or restore electricity. I actively contribute to the installation of electrical prime power distribution systems, exterior services, and utility poles. Connecting service drops and conduits on de-energized systems is also a part of my expertise.
Power Distribution NCO
In my role as a Power Distribution NCO within the 629th Network Support Company, I am responsible for supervising the installation and maintenance of electrical distribution systems. This includes utility poles, power lines, guys, anchors, crossarms, conductors, insulators, and other hardware. My primary objective is to provide tactical power for all deployed operations. I am proficient in maintaining, fueling, and operating generators, as well as connecting and disconnecting service drops and conduits on energized systems. Additionally, I maintain records of power distribution infrastructure and hold the responsibility of ensuring the welfare, accountability, and training of seven soldiers.
