12A Battalion Plans Officer

This officer is responsible for planning and producing orders for a forward stationed Stryker Brigade Combat Team’s Brigade Engineer Battalion. They develop long-range plans for the battalion, coordinate with adjacent battalion and brigade staff, and synchronize the efforts of the Engineer, Signal, and Intelligence sections. Additionally, they serve as the alternate Battalion Additional Duty Safety Officer, tracking and advising on all accidents within the squadron.


Battalion Commander

This officer leads a Brigade Engineer Battalion, commanding and controlling the operational, tactical, and technical functions of the battalion. They support the Director of Domestic Operations (J3) in planning, exercising, and training the unit in support of civil authorities. The Battalion Commander ensures the training and proficiency of the battalion staff and subordinate officers, supports recruitment and retention efforts, and provides combat and general engineer support to the Brigade Combat Team.


Operations Officer

This officer serves as the Operations Officer for a Brigade Engineer Battalion supporting an Infantry Brigade Combat Team. They oversee administrative and training matters for the brigade’s headquarters company and are responsible for planning the tactical employment of the battalion. The Operations Officer prepares detailed plans in alignment with the commanders’ intent and supervises training to meet the battalion’s needs.


Brigade Chief of Operations

This officer is responsible for current operations and battle tracking for a large Infantry Brigade Combat Team. They coordinate across all brigade staff sections, provide an updated operational picture, determine training needs, and review policies and standards to ensure unit readiness.


Task Force Engineer

This officer serves as the Task Force Engineer within a combined-arms Battalion. They provide expertise in mobility, counter-mobility, and survivability. The Task Force Engineer incorporates the engineer scheme of support into the battalion’s decision-making process and acts as a liaison between the operations section and enabler units. They also provide support as an assistant planner.


Platoon Leader

This officer leads a Combat Engineer Platoon in a Modular Engineer (Sapper) Company. They provide supervision, leadership, and training to their assigned Soldiers, ensuring proficiency in battle tasks. The Platoon Leader is responsible for the welfare, discipline, and safety of their platoon and the maintenance and readiness of assigned vehicles and equipment. They advise maneuver commanders on engineer capabilities and integration.


Plans Officer MAJ

This officer serves as an Engineer Plans and Operations Officer for the Transatlantic Division, United States Army Corps of Engineers. They are responsible for executing current and future operations, conducting mission analysis, planning, and mission support to CENTCOM. Their role includes enhancing CENTCOM staff’s understanding of USACE engineer capabilities and accomplishments.
